What Is The One Major Mistake In Purchasing A Generator?

The one major mistake that people make in selecting a generator is under sizing. Most people do not undersatand about sizing a generator to the functions you want to be able to deliver power to. This is most likely due to the fact that a large percentage of generators are an impulse buy. People do not think about generators untill they are needed. Once a generator is needed during an emergency, the first though is to go to a big box store and pick one up and then they are greatly disappointed in the fact that the generator will not run their entire home or office.

In all fairness to the big box stores, their employees generally are not knowledgeable enough to assist a customer with proper information about generators. Their job is to sell and that is what they do.

Call a Mister Sparky Tech today to visit your home or office and they will gladly assist you in planning out your generator purchase so that there are no surprises and no undersized generators sitting in your storage building. A Mister Sparky Tech can also visit with you about the safety of installing a generator and how you can have your generator installed so that it comes on automatically with no delay.

The convenience of a properly sized and running generator will erase any power outage worries no matter what the season. Mister Sparky even offers service plans that can keep your generator running for years. Call 580-256-1151today to book your appointment.

WARNING!! Possible Fire Dangers For Homes

If your home was built between 1950 to the 1980's, you might want to have the electrical panel in your home examined by an electrical expert. Or go to your electrical panel and check to see if your home has a Federal Pacific Panel installed. If you find you do have a Federal Pacific Panel, then call an electrical expert today!

Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) panels were a common install into homes from the 50's through the 80's and after years of use, have been found to not protect homes and families.  They can over heat and become fire hazards if not working properly. You can Google Federal Pacific Electric panels to find more information about the possible danger to your home or office.

A NBC/DFW news site shared the folloing information:  "When a circuit breaker gets overloaded and overheats, the breaker is supposed to trip, shutting off to prevent a fire. But Goodson and other engineers who've studied Federal Pacific breakers say some of them don't work properly. Goodson said the breaker never cuts off and, in some cases, stays on, creating a fire risk.
A study by New York engineer Jesse Aronstein of nearly 1,500 Federal Pacific breakers found that about one out of four failed to trip when overloaded.Federal Pacific is no longer in business."

A video from the NBC/DFW news site is included in this blog below. Please watch it now for more information.

To be sure your family is safe, Mister Sparky Electricians are asking all clients to check their homes to see if they do have a Federal Pacific Panel box. If found, we are highly advising that you contact Mister Sparky to hear what your options might be concerning this dangerous situation.
